How SOISU Works with Designers and Architects

The trade relationship

SOISU is a furniture studio, not an interior design firm. We supply Italian-designed furniture — sofas, beds, dining, armchairs, occasional pieces — into projects led by interior designers, architects, and contractors. Most of the furniture we deliver in South Mumbai is on projects led by an outside designer or architect; we provide the furniture supply and customisation, they handle layout, joinery, civil, lighting, and styling.

We work with designers as an open trade partner. Designers can specify SOISU pieces in their drawings, request technical data sheets and CAD files for their plans, and route their clients to our showroom for material and form selection.

What designers get from working with us

Drawings and CAD files. Every SOISU piece is documented with elevation, plan, and dimension drawings that designers can pull into their floor plans. We provide DWG and PDF files on request.

Material samples. Italian leather samples, performance fabric swatches, and finish chips can be sent to the designer's office for inclusion in their material library or client meeting.

Technical data sheets. Full specifications — frame construction, foam density, leather grade, fabric Martindale rating, hardware, lead time, warranty — for every piece.

Showroom appointments for the designer's client. When a designer routes a client to us, we coordinate the showroom visit with the designer's involvement (in person or by phone), ensure material selection aligns with the designer's scheme, and feed back to the designer at every stage.

Site coordination. Our installation team works with the designer's site supervisor on delivery sequencing, lift dimension validation, and cushion placement to match the designer's intended layout.

Trade pricing and quoting

Designers can quote SOISU pieces to their clients in two formats:

Pass-through quote. Client pays SOISU directly. Designer charges design fees on their own invoice. SOISU sends the same quote to designer and client. This is common for architects and design-only studios.

Designer-quoted package. Designer quotes the client a turnkey package that includes SOISU pieces. SOISU invoices the designer; the designer invoices the client. Designers handle their own pricing structure with their client. This is common for full-service interior firms.

In either format, SOISU's quote and material specifications are provided to the designer in writing, and the designer can build their project plan around them. We do not sell directly into a designer's client without the designer's involvement when the designer has introduced us to the project.

Project sequencing with designers

The typical sequence on a designer-led project:

— Week 1–2: Designer shares floor plan, room dimensions, and material direction. SOISU recommends pieces from ready inventory and custom options.

— Week 2–4: Designer's client visits the showroom (with or without the designer present) to confirm material, colour, and configuration. Order PDF issued for sign-off.

— Week 4 onward: 70% deposit received; production starts (for custom) or stock allocated (for ready inventory).

— Week 13 (Day 60 for custom): Photo inspection sent to designer and client. Optional Bhiwandi visit for in-person inspection.

— Week 14–17 (Day 90 for custom; Week 1–3 for ready inventory): Pre-dispatch QC, lift dimension validation at site, delivery slot booked with designer's site supervisor.

— Installation day: SOISU's install team coordinates with site supervisor for placement, protective film removal, and walk-through.

After-sales and warranty

SOISU's warranty is between SOISU and the end client. Designers are not responsible for after-sales beyond their normal designer-client relationship. We handle warranty claims, leather conditioning service, and any production defects directly with the client. Designers can route after-sales requests to us; we close the loop with the client and notify the designer of resolution.
